SECTION ___. Article 7, Chapter 13, Title 8 is amended by adding:
"Section 8-13-703. (A) It is unlawful for a public official or member to appoint a person to a board, commission, or any other office over which the public officer or member has appointing authority, if the person has made a contribution to any campaign of the public official or member within the preceding four years.
(B) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction must be fined not more than five thousand dollars or imprisoned for not more than one year, or both."
