Amend the bill, as and if amended, by deleting all after the enacting words and inserting:
/ SECTION 1. Chapter 19, Title 40 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 40-19-105. A funeral home, funeral director, or embalmer that takes legal custody of a dead human body and subsequently provides any funeral services for that body must transfer custody of the body to another funeral home, funeral director, or embalmer; provided, however, the latter must pay the former for financial obligations owed to the former for providing those funeral services within thirty days after the transfer is complete, and the latter may grant one ten-day extension beyond the initial thirty-day period. When a funeral home, funeral director, or embalmer fails to make a payment required by this section within the thirty-day period or an additional ten-day extension, if granted, the Board of Funeral Services shall suspend the funeral home's permit to operate and also shall suspend the licenses of the funeral director and embalmer until this payment, plus interest accrued at the statutory rate, is paid."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor. /
