EXPLANATION: direct wil lou gray to prepare an expansion plan to accept john de la howe students; require sfc and wmc approve the plan; and transfer students upon plan approval; put land on surplus property rolls
Amend the bill, as and if amended, Part IB, Section 117, GENERAL
PROVISIONS, page 495, after line 30, by adding an appropriately
numbered paragraph to read:
/ (GP: JDLH/WLG) The Wil Lou Gray
Opportunity School shall prepare an expansion plan to serve
students housed at the John de la Howe School. The plan shall
include, but is not limited to, financial resource requirements
necessary to house and educate the students and process to
transfer students from John de la Howe School to the Wil Lou
Gray Opportunity School upon closure of the school.
The Wil Lou Gray Opportunity
School shall submit the plan to the Senate Finance Committee and
to the House Ways and Means Committee by December 1 of the
current fiscal year for approval of the expansion.
Upon approval of the
expansion plan the John de la Howe School shall be closed,
employees shall be terminated, final employee compensation shall
be paid, and students shall be transferred. Funds shall be
transferred to the Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School in accordance
with the approved plan.
Upon closure of the John de
la Howe School, the property shall be placed on the rolls of
surplus property until such time as a determination is made on
the potential use of the property./
