AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 60-15-30, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE TERMS, VACANCIES, AND REAPPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA ARTS COMMISSION, SO AS TO DELETE THE INITIAL LENGTH OF TERMS FOR APPOINTEES TO THE COMMISSION, TO DELETE A PROVISION PROVIDING THAT NO MEMBER OF THE COMMISSION SHALL BE ELIGIBLE FOR REAPPOINTMENT DURING A ONE-YEAR PERIOD FOLLOWING THE EXPIRATION OF HIS TERM AND TO PERMIT MEMBERS TO BE APPOINTED FOR TWO CONSECUTIVE TERMS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Terms

Section 1. Section 60-15-30 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 60-15-30. The terms of office of members shall be three years, and until their successors have been appointed and qualify. No member of the Commission shall be eligible for appointment for more than two consecutive full terms. The Commission shall designate an executive director to serve at the pleasure of the Commission and who shall be the chief executive officer of the Commission. All vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term in the manner of original appointment."

Members eligible for reappointment

Section 2. Members of the South Carolina Arts Commission whose three-year terms expire after the effective date of this act shall be eligible for immediate reappointment for an additional term in accordance with the provisions of Section 60-15-30 of the 1976 Code as amended in Section 1 of this act.

Time effective

Section 3. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
