AN ACT TO MAKE IT UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON TO GIVE A FALSE OR FICTITIOUS NAME OR ADDRESS, OR TO GIVE THE NAME OR ADDRESS OF ANY OTHER PERSON WITHOUT THAT PERSON'S APPROVAL, FOR THE PURPOSE OF OBTAINING OR ATTEMPTING TO OBTAIN A REFUND FROM A BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENT FOR MERCHANDISE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Unlawful to give false or fictitious name or address

Section 1. It is unlawful for any person to give a false or fictitious name or address, or to give the name or address of any other person without that person's approval, for the purpose of obtaining or attempting to obtain a refund from a business establishment for merchandise.

Penalty

Section 2. Any person who violates the provisions of this act is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine not to exceed two hundred dollars or by imprisonment for a term not to exceed thirty days.

Time effective

Section 3. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
