AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 593 OF 1978, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT INCIDENT REPORTS OF CRIMES AND ALLEGED CRIMES SHALL BE DEEMED TO BE PUBLIC INFORMATION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Incident reports

Section 1. Section 6 of Act 593 of 1978 is amended by adding at the end:

"(8) Incident reports which disclose the nature, substance, and location of any crime or alleged crime reported as having been committed. Where an incident report contains information exempt a, otherwise provided by law, the law enforcement agency may delete that information from the incident report."

Time effective

Section 2. This act shall take effect upon the approval by the Governor.
