The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

O God our Father, facing the duties of this day and conscious of the challenges before us, we come lifting our thoughts to You in prayer. Make us ready for every responsibility, equal to every experience and adequate for each activity. Remove from us any resentment that may damage our disposition, any bitterness that may blight our minds, any animosity that may activate ill will. Cleanse the thoughts of our minds by the inspiration of Your presence that we may be worthy instruments in Your hands for the doing of Your will. Make us diligent in our work as we heed the words in Proverbs: "A faithful man shall abound with blessings" (Proverbs 28:20a).

Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
