The House assembled at 10:00 A.M. Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplin of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

Almighty God, our Creator and Sustainer, we do not pray for relief from heavy responsibilities, but for a double measure of Your help that we might meet them with honor; not for fewer burdens, but for greater strength that we meet them with patience; not for less troubles, but for more trust in You that we might conquer them with confidence. May we forgive as You have forgiven us. Let not this period of prayer be the only time we think of You this day, but as the hours pass may we be mindful of Your presence and ready to do Your will.

In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
