TO COMMEND THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH FOR ITS INNOVATIVE FUNDING TECHNIQUES FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF CLOZARIL TO PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC SCHIZOPHRENIA.
Whereas, the State Department of Mental Health has demonstrated innovation in funding techniques for the distribution of Clozaril to patients with chronic schizophrenia; and
Whereas, Clozaril is reported to significantly aid up to thirty percent of the people with chronic schizophrenia who have not responded to other neuroleptic medications; and
Whereas, the State Department of Mental Health's funding initiative has allowed patients with chronic schizophrenia access to this revolutionary neuroleptic; and
Whereas, access to Clozaril may aid people with chronic schizophrenia in reclaiming their lives by moving from institutional settings to more normalized community settings. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly commend the State Department of Mental Health for its innovative funding techniques for the distribution of Clozaril to patients with chronic schizophrenia.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Joseph J. Bevilacqua, State Commissioner, State Department of Mental Health.
