TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 50-21-107 SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE OPERATION OF MOTOR BOATS BY A PERSON UNDER THE AGE OF SIXTEEN ON THE LAKES OF THE STATE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 50-21-107. It is unlawful for a person under the age of sixteen years to operate a motor boat on the lakes of the State. A person under the age of sixteen years may operate a motor boat if accompanied by an adult, twenty-one years of age or more, during daylight hours only. For purposes of this section, daylight hours are six o'clock a.m. to six o'clock p.m. A person who violates the provisions of this section is prohibited from operating any vessel on any waters of this State for a period of two years after he attains sixteen years of age."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
