TO RECOGNIZE MRS. ABELLE PALMORE NIVENS OF GRANITEVILLE WHO WAS NAMED 1991 OUTSTANDING OLDER AMERICAN BY THE AIKEN AREA COUNCIL ON AGING.
Whereas, Mrs. Abelle Palmore Nivens of Graniteville was named 1991 Outstanding Older American by the Aiken Area Council On Aging; and
Whereas, Mrs. Nivens is founder and president of the Minnie Palmore House, a learning center for children two to five years old. As a result of her working to build positive self-image and self- esteem in her students, ninety percent are honor students and eighty percent are in the ninetieth percentile of national and state exams; and
Whereas, Mrs. Nivens was involved in the public school system as a teacher and an administrator for forty-three years before retiring to the Minnie Palmore House; and
Whereas, the members of the Senate salute Mrs. Nivens for her well-deserved recognition by the Aiken Area Council on Aging and thank her for her continued contributions to the field of education and to the youth of our State. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate recognize Mrs. Abelle Palmore Nivens of Graniteville who was named 1991 Outstanding Older American by the Aiken Area Council on Aging.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Nivens.
