EXPRESSING THE SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF THE LATE C. C. "CURT" CLINKSCALES, III.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were saddened to learn of the untimely death of C. C. "Curt" Clinkscales, III, after a two-year battle with cancer; and
Whereas, he was a Greenville native who in recent years has resided in Arlington, Virginia, where he organized and directed the National Alliance of Senior Citizens, which since 1974 has grown to include more than one hundred thousand members; and
Whereas, Mr. Clinkscales was active in Republican Party politics, meeting on several occasions with President Ronald Reagan, and led an attempt to nominate Ambassador Jean Kirkpatrick as President Bush's 1988 running mate; and
Whereas, in recognition of his distinguished service in the cause of promoting the interests of senior citizens, he was appointed by President Reagan in 1982 as a delegate to the World Assembly on Aging; and
Whereas, Mr. Clinkscales, a 1968 Clemson graduate, served his country as an Air Force pilot during the Vietnam War; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations so they might honor the memory and express their sympathy to the family and many friends of so distinguished a son of South Carolina.
Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly express sympathy to the family and many friends of Mr.
C. C. "Curt" Clinkscales, III.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Clinkscales.
