TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY OF MR. F. W. "BILLY" CAUGHMAN, PROMINENT LEXINGTON COUNTY BUSINESS AND CIVIC LEADER, UPON HIS DEATH.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of one of Lexington County's most respected business and civic leaders, Mr. F. W. "Billy" Caughman, on Sunday, May 5, 1991; and
Whereas, Billy Caughman was a native of Lexington County and as President of Caughman's Meat Plant, Inc., and as President of the South Carolina Association of Meat Cutters was an integral part of the Lexington busines community; and
Whereas, he was also involved in his community and State in many other ways including service as a member of the board of directors of the Lexington State Bank and a member of the South Carolina Highways and Public Transportation Commission from the Eleventh Circuit from 1983 to 1987; and
Whereas, Billy Caughman throughout his life whether in business, civic, or governmental endeavors was considered a man of his word who earned the respect of all those with whom he came into contact; and
Whereas, with the death of this fine man at the age of sixty, the people of Lexington and South Carolina have lost a respected business leader, a public servant of the highest integrity, and a good friend; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend their sincere condolences to his wife, mother, children, and other family and friends in this time of sorrow. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby express their deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. F. W. "Billy" Caughman, prominent Lexington County business and civic leader, upon his death.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his widow, Mrs. Marguerite White Caughman.
