The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

Merciful God, consensus seems impossible at times. There are so many points of view. Teach us to be charitable toward those with whom we disagree. Enable us to listen to others. Help us to know when to compromise and when to stand firm. Give us endurance for necessary things. Forbid that we should so completely concentrate on our priorities at to put You off. When we are beset with doubts, worries, sorrows, tiredness and a sense of emptiness, we are especially thankful that You are near to make us strong. Cause us at all times to lean heavily upon Your strong arm.

Fill us with peace and joy. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
