A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 1-11-67 SO AS TO REQUIRE THE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT OFFICE, DIVISION OF GENERAL SERVICES OF THE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD TO REPORT TO THE BOARD AND THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGARDING STATE-OWNED PROPERTY AND REQUIRE THE BOARD TO DISPOSE OF LAND AND RESIDENCES IDENTIFIED AS UNNECESSARY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Chapter 11, Title 1 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 1-11-67. To promote an effective, economical, and equitable usage of state-owned property, the Property Management Office, Division of General Services of the State Budget and Control Board shall complete a verification of state-owned property at the end of each fiscal year. The verification must specify all land and residences unnecessary for meeting the responsibilities and goals of the State. All agencies, departments, institutions, and divisions of state government shall provide the information and data required for the verification. The office shall report to the General Assembly recommendations regarding lands and residences which must be sold. The board shall dispose of the land and residences the General Assembly identifies as unnecessary."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
