TO CONGRATULATE SUMTER SCHOOL DISTRICT 17 ON RECEIVING ITS SECOND CONSECUTIVE "WHAT PARENTS WANT" AWARD FROM SCHOOLMATCH, A NATIONAL EDUCATION CONSULTING FIRM.
Whereas, Sumter School District 17 was recognized recently as a recipient of the "What Parents Want" award from SchoolMatch, a national education consulting firm; and
Whereas, this year is the second consecutive year School District 17 has been honored; and
Whereas, School District 17 was one of only ten winners from South Carolina this year and one of only two last year; and
Whereas, fewer than ten percent of the nation's almost 16,000 public school districts were recognized as award recipients; and
Whereas, School District 17 demonstrated competitiveness in academic test scores and teacher salaries, a high monetary investment in instructional material and library and media services, small classes, and nationally recognized excellence; and
Whereas, those areas are the most highly sought characteristics by parents of school children; and
Whereas, district superintendent Dr. Andrena Ray is justifiably proud of the affirmation of the efforts in District 17. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Sumter School District 17 on receiving its second consecutive "What Parents Want" award from SchoolMatch, a national education consulting firm.
