A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-17-150 SO AS TO REQUIRE SCHOOL DISTRICTS WITH FEWER THAN FIFTY PERCENT OF ITS STUDENTS ACHIEVING THE STANDARD SCORE ON THE BASIC SKILLS ASSESSMENT PROGRAM TO PROVIDE ENRICHMENT AND REMEDIATION PROGRAMS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-17-150. School districts in which fewer than fifty percent of the district's students score below the standard score on the Basic Skills Assessment Program shall provide enrichment and remediation programs for these students."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
