TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-5-65 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY SHALL NOT REQUIRE A HIGHWAY PATROLMAN TO ISSUE A SPECIFIC NUMBER OF TRAFFIC TICKETS EACH YEAR, AND TO PROVIDE A PENALTY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 56-5-65. The Department of Public Safety shall not officially or unofficially require a highway patrolman to issue a specific number of traffic tickets each year. A highway patrolman and his superior officers who comply with an order that violates this provision must be suspended permanently from their duties."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
