A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-3-1976 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF DISABILITIES AND SPECIAL NEEDS SHALL ISSUE CERTIFICATES OR PERMITS TO HANDICAPPED INDIVIDUALS THAT ALLOW A TAXICAB TRANSPORTING SUCH INDIVIDUALS TO PARK IN A HANDICAPPED PARKING PLACE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 56-3-1976. The Department of Disabilities and Special needs shall issue certificates or permits to handicapped individuals that allow a taxicab that transports a person holding a certificate or permit to park in a handicapped parking place."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
