TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE REVEREND GEORGE WILLIAMS, JR., AND THE CHURCH HE PASTORS, THE DELIVERANCE WORD OF FAITH CHURCH OF LANCASTER, SOUTH CAROLINA, ON THE OCCASION OF ITS INSTALLATION-APPRECIATION CELEBRATION WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY, APRIL 11, 1999.
Whereas, the Deliverance Word of Faith Church of Lancaster, South Carolina, plans an evening of fellowship on Sunday, April 11, 1999, when the church takes part in a celebration of pastoral installation under the Apostle Mantle of Bishop Flynn Johnson of the Atlanta Metropolitan Cathedral of Atlanta, Georgia, and when the church honors the service of its pastor, Reverend George Williams, Jr.; and
Whereas, Reverend Williams is deserving of the adulation and praise of the members of his church; and
Whereas, in 1989, he became pastor of Deliverance Word of Faith Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Harold Wheeler and the late evangelist, Emily Jane McIlwain, and has faithfully served the congregation for nine years; and
Whereas, Reverend Williams is well educated, having received a Bachelor of Arts from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina in 1966, a Masters of Education degree from South Carolina State College In Orangeburg, South Carolina in 1973, and an Education Specialist degree from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina in 1986; and
Whereas, he taught public school in the Lancaster public schools for thirty years, retiring on June 7, 1996; and
Whereas, he has demonstrated his love for the citizens of Lancaster with membership and work in a variety of professional, civil, and religious associations; and
Whereas, Reverend Williams has performed humanitarian service by ministering and witnessing internationally in Liberia, Africa, and St. Maarten, Antilles; and
Whereas, Reverend Williams is blessed with a wonderful family- his wife, Stella, and three daughters, LaTonya, LaQuesha, and LaBrittany, a son-in-law, Lamar, and a grandson named J. C.; and
Whereas, Reverend Williams earned a Ministerial Leadership degree from the Word of Faith Bible Institute of Dallas, Texas, and he has completed a course of study on "Biblical Principles" from the Shield of Faith Seminary in Rock Hill, South Carolina; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to acknowledge such a dedicated minister, humble servant of his strong religious beliefs, and distinguished citizen of Lancaster and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly recognize and congratulate the Reverend George Williams, Jr., and the church he pastors, the Deliverance Word of Faith Church of Lancaster, South Carolina, on the occasion of its Installation-Appreciation Celebration which will take place on Sunday, April 11, 1999.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend George Williams, Jr.
