TO AMEND CHAPTER 3, TITLE 56, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION AND LICENSING, BY ADDING ARTICLE 28 SO AS TO PROVIDE A SPECIAL LICENSE PLATE FOR SPECIAL PURPOSE DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 3, Title 56 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
Section 56-3-2550. (A) The department may issue special motor vehicle license plates to special purpose district commissioners of this State for private passenger motor vehicles owned by them. The biennial fee for this special license plate is the same as the fee provided in Section 56-3-2020. Only one special license plate may be issued to a special service district commissioner. The license plate must be issued or revalidated biennially for the regular registration and licensing period.
(B) The special license plate must be of the same size as a regular motor vehicle license plate, but must be of a distinctive design and bear letters and numerals prescribed by the department."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
