That they have duly and carefully considered the same, and recommend that the same do pass:

A BILL

TO AMEND ACT 722 OF 1976, RELATING TO THE WASHINGTON LIGHT INFANTRY AND SUMTER GUARDS BOARD OF OFFICERS, SO AS TO INCREASE THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOARD FROM FIVE TO SEVEN MEMBERS AND TO CHANGE THE MANNER IN WHICH THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD ARE APPOINTED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 1 of Act 722 of 1976 is amended to read:

"Section 1. Section 44-701. The corporation known as 'The Board of Officers of the South Carolina National Guard in the City of Charleston' shall hereafter be known and styled as 'The Washington Light Infantry and Sumter Guards Board of Officers'.

The corporation shall consist of five seven board members, two of whom shall be elected by the membership of the Washington Light Infantry, two of whom shall be elected by the membership of the Sumter Guards and one of whom shall be elected by those four members and shall serve as secretary-treasurer of the board who shall be appointed by the Commander/Chairman. The corporation is declared and confirmed as the successor to 'The Board of Field Officers of the Fourth Brigade, South Carolina Militia', 'The Board of Field Officers, Fourth Brigade, South Carolina Volunteer Troops', 'The Board of Officers of South Carolina Volunteer Troops in the City of Charleston' and 'The Board of Officers of the South Carolina National Guard in the City of Charleston' and all acts done on or after May 7, 1945, by the corporation in its corporate capacity are hereby confirmed and ratified."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
