TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, RELATING TO REQUIREMENTS FOR INITIAL LICENSURE AT THE ADVANCED LEVEL, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 2404, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Board of Education, relating to requirements for initial licensure at the advanced level, designated as Regulation Document Number 2404, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
The State Board of Education promulgated amendments to Regulation 43-64, Requirements for Initial Certification at the Advanced Level. The regulation will clarify requirements for those individuals seeking a teaching certificate in South Carolina as addressed below:
(1) The promulgated amendment will delete reference to the Grade A Professional Certificate.
(2) The promulgated amendment will delete the different requirements for in-state and out-of-state applicants.
(3) The promulgated amendment will insert school and/or district administrator language requirement for those who apply for a superintendent certificate.
(4) The promulgated amendment will insert current descriptive titles for vocational courses.
(5) The promulgated amendment will designate those areas that will no longer be issued by the State Department of Education.
(6) The proposed amendment will designate those areas that will no longer be issued as areas of certification.
