TO RECOGNIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF ALL SCHOOL NURSES IN SOUTH CAROLINA WHO HELP ENSURE THE HEALTH, SAFETY, AND ACADEMIC SUCCESS OF OUR YOUNG STUDENTS AND TO COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE YOUTH OF THIS STATE.
Whereas, school nurses are an integral part of the school health care team, working in collaboration with families, schools, and communities to develop and promote comprehensive health care programs for our school students; and
Whereas, in addition to providing for students' immediate health needs, school nurses are continually working to promote healthy lifestyles and educate students about steps they can take to protect and strengthen their physical, as well as emotional well-being; and
Whereas, school nurses throughout the Palmetto State guard the continued well-being of the young people of South Carolina by establishing and following up on linkages to outside health services; and
Whereas, on January 24, 2001, School Nurse Day will be celebrated nationally and in South Carolina, and this celebration provides a unique opportunity for the citizens of the Palmetto State and the General Assembly to recognize the many contributions made by school nurses to the continued health of the young people of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, hereby recognize the importance of all school nurses in South Carolina who help ensure the health, safety, and academic success of our young students and commend them for their contributions to the youth of this State.
