TO CONGRATULATE AND HONOR EMILY ANDERSEN OF ROCK HILL, A HOME SCHOOL STUDENT IN HER SENIOR YEAR, AS A RECIPIENT OF A PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARD AND RECOGNIZE HER OUTSTANDING RECORD OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE, PEER LEADERSHIP, AND COMMUNITY SPIRIT.
Whereas, Emily Andersen of Rock Hill, a home school student in her senior year, has achieved national recognition for exemplary volunteer service by receiving a 2001 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and
Whereas, this prestigious award, presented by the Prudential Insurance Company of America in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; and
Whereas, she earned this award by giving generously of her time and energy to establish a volunteer tutoring project that teamed ten high school youth with students in two kindergarten classes at a local elementary school; and
Whereas, the success of the State of South Carolina, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality for American society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young people like Emily Andersen who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate and honor Emily Andersen of Rock Hill as a recipient of a Prudential Spirit of Community Award and recognize her outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and community spirit.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Emily Andersen.
