TO COMMEND JACK A. CUNNINGHAM, OF GILBERT HIGH SCHOOL IN LEXINGTON COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, ON HIS THIRTY-PLUS YEARS OF BEING AN AGRICULTURAL EDUCATOR AND HONOR HIM UPON HIS RETIREMENT AT THE CLOSE OF THE 2000-2001 SCHOOL YEAR.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly wish to express their appreciation and gratitude for Jack A. Cunningham in his endeavors as a teacher of agricultural educator for over thirty years at Gilbert High School in Lexington County; and
Whereas, Mr. Cunningham will be retiring at the end of the 2000-2001 school year following a distinguished and dedicated career as an agricultural educator who promoted the agricultural industry in Lexington County and South Carolina; and
Whereas, Mr. Cunningham graduated from Clemson University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural education and a Master of Science degree in that same field in 1983. Mr. Cunningham is an active member and past president of the South Carolina Agricultural Educators Association, and served as a member of the South Carolina Future Farmers of America Association (FFA) Board of Directors and a trustee of the South Carolina FFA Foundation for twelve years. He also is an advisor to the Gilbert-Lexington-Batesburg-Leesville Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association; and
Whereas, Jack Cunningham is a member of the Batesburg-Leesville Presbyterian Church where he serves as an elder. He is a captain in the Gilbert-Summit Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Midlands Saltwater Sportsman's Club; and
Whereas, Jack A. Cunningham has been a tremendous credit to his community, as a teacher and a public servant, and the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to thank Mr. Cunningham for all that he has done for the County of Lexington and the State of South Carolina on the occasion of his upcoming retirement. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly commend Jack A. Cunningham, of Gilbert High School in Lexington County, South Carolina, on his thirty-plus years of being an agricultural educator and honor him upon his retirement at the close of the 2000-2001 school year.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Cunningham.
