TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY OF SERGEANT WALTER K. FLOYD OF BARRINEAU WHO WAS TRAGICALLY KILLED IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT IN THE LINE OF DUTY AS A MEMBER OF THE CLARENDON COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the tragic traffic accident recently which took the life of Sgt. Walter K. Floyd of Barrineau; and
Whereas, he was an investigator with the Clarendon County Sheriff's Department lost his life while serving the citizens he took an oath to protect; and
Whereas, Sgt. Walter Floyd served his county and State with distinction and his sudden loss will leave a void in the lives of his family, colleagues, and friends not easily filled; and
Whereas, with the death of this fine man at the age of forty-four, the people of Clarendon County and Barrineau have lost an outstanding citizen, a highly respected law enforcement officer, and a fine man; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like his wife Lisha, his daughter Kena, who is a page for the South Carolina House of Representatives, his son Bryan, and other members of his family to know that their thoughts and prayers are with them in this time of sorrow. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly express their deepest sympathy to the family of Sgt. Walter K. Floyd of Barrineau who was tragically killed in a traffic accident in the line of duty as a member of the Clarendon County Sheriff's Department.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his widow, Mrs. Lisha Webster Floyd, to Sheriff L. Keith Josey, Jr., and to former Sheriff H. F. Swilley, and to the Clarendon County Law Enforcement Officers Association.
