TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE LEXINGTON MEDICAL CENTER, ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER, FOR HAVING THE VISION AND TENACITY IN MEETING AND EXCEEDING THE MEDICAL NEEDS OF THE CITIZENS OF LEXINGTON COUNTY AND THE MIDLANDS.
Whereas, the citizens of Lexington County and the Midlands are indeed fortunate to have a medical facility the caliber of the Lexington Medical Center; and
Whereas, the Lexington Medical Center is meeting and exceeding the medical needs of all portions of Lexington County by locating medical facilities in various geographic locations in the county through the Lexington County Health Services District, Inc.; and
Whereas, the Lexington Medical Center, under the capable management of Mike Biediger, Chief Executive Officer and President, and its Board of Directors, Jane Beuchler, J. R. Caughman, James E. Clark, Paul Clifton, Jr., Wayne D. Corley, Roger E. Davis, James B. Ellisor, George H. Fann, Jr., DMD, Lib Foster, Herbert J. Hames, Bob Heilman, Richard M. Lawson, MD, Larry Livingston, Hubert E. Long, Jr., Leon A. Love, March Seabrook, MD, James I. Shealy, Bill Stilwell, Frances K. Wells, and Thad H. Westbrook have forged a plan which will have a significant impact on the quality of life of the population it serves for years to come; and
Whereas, a hearty "thank you" should also be extended to the members of the Board of Directors of the Lexington Medical Center, who served before the current board, for their initial and constant efforts in providing top notch health care to those who need it; and
Whereas, the Lexington County Medical Center Foundation's participation in the expansion of this medical center has made it possible that little or no tax dollars will be used in its expansion; and
Whereas, the proposed $93.6 million expansion and renovation project is believed to be the largest request ever for a hospital building in the Midlands. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and congratulate the Lexington Medical Center, its Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer, for having the vision and tenacity in meeting and exceeding the medical needs of the citizens of Lexington County and the Midlands.
