The Senate assembled at 11:00 A.M., the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the ACTING PRESIDENT, Senator JACKSON.

HOUSE BILL RETURNED

The following House Bill was read the third time and ordered returned to the House with amendments:

H. 3890 (Word version) -- Reps. Townsend, Harrell, Allison, Hayes, Jennings, McCraw, Phillips and Miller: A JOINT RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE REALLOCATION OF TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FUNDING UNDER THE EDUCATION ACCOUNTABILITY ACT FOR SPECIFIED ASSISTANCE TO LOW-PERFORMING SCHOOLS AND SCHOOL DISTRICTS, AND TO PROVIDE THE MANNER IN WHICH AND CRITERIA UNDER WHICH THIS SPECIAL ASSISTANCE SHALL BE PROVIDED.

MOTION ADOPTED

On motion of Senator BRANTON, with unanimous consent, the Senate stood adjourned out of respect to the memory of Mr. Josh Ladson, Jr. of Summerville, S.C., Chairman of the Board of Deacons, New Ashley Baptist Church.

ADJOURNMENT

At 11:10 A.M., on motion of Senator BAUER, the Senate adjourned to meet next Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at 12:00 Noon.
