VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 44-6-115 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT STATE FUNDS, INCLUDING MEDICAID FUNDS, MAY NOT BE EXPENDED TO PERFORM A CIRCUMCISION ON A NEWBORN MALE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 44-6-115. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, state funds, including matching Medicaid funds, may not be expended to perform a circumcision on a newborn male."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
