TO DIRECT THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL AND THE MEDICAID FRAUD UNIT OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE, TO CONVENE A TASK FORCE TO STUDY THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS IN NURSING HOMES AND TO REPORT ITS FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The Department of Health and Human Services, in conjunction with the Department of Health and Environmental Control and the Medicaid Fraud Unit of the Attorney General's office, shall convene a task force to study the effectiveness of placing surveillance cameras in nursing homes. The task force shall report its findings and recommendations to the General Assembly before January 1, 2004. Members of the task force are not eligible to receive mileage, per diem, or subsistence as authorized by law for members of boards, committees, and commissions.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
