A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 40-37-185 SO AS TO REQUIRE AN OPTOMETRIST TO RELEASE A PATIENT'S LENS PRESCRIPTION TO THE PATIENT UPON REQUEST.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 37, Title 40 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 40-37-185.    An optometrist shall provide a patient's lens prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses to the patient upon request."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
