VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO EXPRESS THE SINCERE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF MR. JURELL BYRD, SENIOR, OF ENOREE WHO PASSED AWAY SUNDAY, APRIL 20, 2003, AND TO EXTEND DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS LOVING FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, Mr. Jurell Byrd, Senior, was born June 12, 1914, in Spartanburg County to William and Hattie Young Byrd; and
Whereas, a loving family man, Mr. Byrd was married to the late Marie Pryor Byrd and had twelve children; and
Whereas, Mr. Byrd valiantly served the United States during World War II and was a retired employee of Inman Mills; and
Whereas, Mr. Byrd was laid to rest by Reverend Clarence Thomas at his home church, Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Enoree, on Friday, April 25, 2003; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives extends its sympathy to the family and many friends of Mr. Byrd. He is survived by six sons, Mr. Errol Pryor, of Willingboro, New Jersey, Mr. Ezzie Stroud and Mr. Jurell Byrd, Jr., both of Laurens, Mr. Herman Pryor, of Ora, and Mr. Robert Byrd and Mr. Gerald Byrd, both of Enoree; four daughters, Ms. Loraine Latham, Ms. Christine B. Mickens and Ms. Annie B. Vance, all of Enoree, and Ms. Mattie B. Harper, of Laurens; two sisters, Ms. Lorence Brown, of Fountain Inn, and Ms. Louella Spurgeon, of Enoree; twenty-five grandchildren, one reared in the home, Ms. Tonya B. Bland; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Ms. Cora M. Byrd and Mr. Bobby Stroud. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their sincere sorrow upon the death of Mr. Jurell Byrd, Senior, of Enoree who passed away Sunday, April 20, 2003, and extend deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Jurell Byrd, Senior.
