VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO THE SUMMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL "GREEN WAVE" AND THEIR COACH, BURT BAZZLE, ON WINNING THE 2003 CLASS AAAA BOYS' BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR HARD WORK, COMPETITIVE SPIRIT, AND DEDICATION TO BECOME A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM.
Whereas, being a member of a sports team allows young people to have the opportunity to learn the skills of cooperation and teamwork while developing great athletic talents; and
Whereas, to become a champion in baseball, all members of the team and the coaching staff must have outstanding leadership and physical abilities; and
Whereas, with the guidance of Head Coach Burt Bazzle and Assistant Coach Britt Blanton, the boys' baseball team of Summerville High School faced intimidating opponents and played tough games but were rewarded by being given the chance to become State Champions; and
Whereas, along their journey to the championship game, this team enjoyed victories and felt defeat but remained focused on their common goal of being named the best team in the State; and
Whereas, the Summerville "Green Wave" ended their season with an impressive record of twenty-three wins and twelve losses and, most importantly, captured the Lower State Championship and the 2003 Class AAAA Boys' Baseball State Championship Title; and
Whereas, this nine to one win over Lexington High School in a two game sweep prevented a fine Lexington team from winning their sixth state title; and
Whereas, with the support of their family, friends, and community, these young men of Summerville have become champions both on and off the baseball diamond. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, wish to extend their congratulations to the Summerville High School "Green Wave" and their coach, Burt Bazzle, on winning the 2003 Class AAAA Boys' Baseball Championship and to commend them for their hard work, competitive spirit, and dedication to become a championship team.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the members of the Summerville High School Baseball Team and Coach Burt Bazzle.
