The Senate assembled at 11:00 A.M., the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.

A quorum being present, the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:

Beloved, hear a few words from the first chapter of the Book of Genesis, verse 20:

"And God said, 'Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the dome of the sky... And God saw that it was good'."
Let us pray.

Father, we stand in awe before the wonder of it all. Truly, it is a universe and a world with every little thing a mystery.

Help us to see in the mystery and the splendor of winter's snow and ice bringing the beauty of bulbs and flowers of springtime. Let it be a parable of life: that truly there is a transcendent Spirit that can bring renewal and new life to the human soul.

Help us, even us, to share in Your creative and redemptive process, and become co-workers with You in making a world where truth, beauty and goodness will be the flowers of the human heart that are evidence of the good life in which we share, remembering the words of Sacred Scripture: "And God saw that it was good."
Amen!

The PRESIDENT called for Petitions, Memorials, Presentments of Grand Juries and such like papers.
