VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 2-7-67 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A MEMBER OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY MAY NOT FILE MORE THAN SIX BILLS DURING ANY REGULAR SESSION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY INCLUDING ANY EXTENSIONS, SPECIAL, OR EXTRAORDINARY SESSIONS OCCURRING DURING THAT YEAR, AND TO PROVIDE EXCEPTIONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 7, Title 2 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 2-7-67. (A) A member of the General Assembly may not file more than six bills during any regular session of the General Assembly including any extensions, special, or extraordinary sessions occurring during that year. This six-bill limit includes bills which may be prefiled as a part of that session.
(B) Bills that do not count against this six-bill limit include:
(1) local bills;
(2) bills relating to a school district comprised of more than one county;
(3) resolutions of the body in which the member serves;
(4) concurrent resolutions;
(5) bills that relate only to the repeal of specific provisions of law."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
