TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-101-45 SO AS TO LIMIT MEMBERS OF BOARDS OF TRUSTEES OF SOUTH CAROLINA PUBLIC COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES TO THREE FOUR-YEAR TERMS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 101, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-101-45. Notwithstanding another provision of law, a member elected or appointed to a board of trustees of a public college or university of this State may serve only three four-year terms. This section applies to board members elected or appointed after January 1, 2011."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
