VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-17-170 SO AS TO REQUIRE THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO BE OPEN ON A STATE HOLIDAY IF ANY SCHOOL DISTRICT OF THIS STATE IS OPEN ON A STATE HOLIDAY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 17, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-17-170. If any school district of this State is open on a state holiday as defined in Section 53-5-10, the office of the State Department of Education must be open on the state holiday."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
