VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO SALUTE THE HILLCREST HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM FOR NETTING THE 2012 CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS AND COACH LYNN AVANT ON TWO CONSECUTIVE STATE WINS.
Whereas, twelve months after the Hillcrest High School girls volleyball team battled to a five-game title win over Aiken, the Hillcrest Lady Rams once again overcame the Green Hornets, this time in four games to win their second consecutive Class AAAA crown; and
Whereas, on Saturday, November 3, 2012, Hillcrest (54-3) took the match 25-23, 14-25, 25-14, and 25-20. Excited Hillcrest fans were more than usually jubilant at the victory because it was the second time in seven years the Lady Rams have gone back-to-back, having won state titles in 2006 and 2007, as well as 2011 and 2012; and
Whereas, rightly proud of her team, Coach Lynn Avant instilled a standard of excellence in her athletes that will serve them well throughout their lives, both on and off the court; and
Whereas, Coach Avant also taught the Lady Rams perseverance, a winning trait they demonstrated to some purpose before a riveted crowd at the November 3 finals; and
Whereas, appreciative of the great pride and recognition these athletes have brought to their school and community, the House of Representatives congratulates the Lady Rams, and the members look with interest toward hearing of their further exploits as volleyball champions. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, salute the Hillcrest High School girls volleyball team for netting the 2012 Class AAAA State Championship title, and honor the players and Coach Lynn Avant on two consecutive state wins.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Steve Chamness and Coach Lynn Avant of Hillcrest High School.
