A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE ORANGEBURG ALLIANCE OF MINISTERS' WIVES AND MINISTERS' WIDOWS AND TO CELEBRATE WITH THEM ON THE OCCASION OF THE 2ND ANNUAL BENEFIT BANQUET.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the Orangeburg Alliance of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows will hold its 2nd Annual Benefit Banquet on April 12, 2013, at the Edisto United Methodist Church in Orangeburg; and

Whereas, Dr. Beverly W. Glover, the keynote speaker for the event, is the wife of Moderator and Pastor Walter W. Glover, and she serves as the eighth president of the International Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows (IAMWMW); and

Whereas, the international organization has more than forty-three thousand members from one hundred three denominations and boasts chapters across the United States and in eighteen foreign nations; and

Whereas, IAMWMW offers educational opportunities for the wives and widows of ministers to enable them to be more effective in their kingdom-building roles. The association also supports such charitable causes as the United Negro College Fund, American Cancer Society, United Way, Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation, and Black Patriots Foundation; and

Whereas, as well as offering individual scholarships to young people seeking higher education, the association endowed both the International Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia, and Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia, with fifty thousand dollars each and the Perpetual Endowment Fund with a quarter of a million dollars; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the outstanding service that the Orangeburg Alliance of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows has provided to the community, and the members acknowledge with pride Dr. Beverly W. Glover as the keynote speaker for the organization's 2nd Annual Benefit Banquet. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the outstanding contributions of the Orangeburg Alliance of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows and celebrate with them on the occasion of the 2nd Annual Benefit Banquet.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Orangeburg Alliance of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows.
