A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO SALUTE GIBBS CANCER CENTER IN SPARTANBURG ON BEING AWARDED A THREE-YEAR TERM OF ACCREDITATION FOR THE BEARDEN-JOSEY CENTER FOR BREAST HEALTH BY THE NATIONAL ACCREDITATION PROGRAM FOR BREAST CENTERS.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is delighted to hear that Gibbs Cancer Center in Spartanburg was recently awarded a three-year term of accreditation for the Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health (BJCBH) by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC); and

Whereas, NAPBC is a consortium of national professional organizations dedicated to the improvement of the quality of care and the monitoring of outcomes for patients with diseases of the breast. BJCBH received initial accreditation from NAPBC in 2009 and recently was reaccredited; and

Whereas, further, BJCBH boasts the American College of Radiology's (ACR) Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE) designation. The BICOE designation is awarded to breast-imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all the ACR's voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory mammography accreditation program. BJCBH also reaches into the community with multiple locations and mobile mammography, removing barriers and ensuring access for breast cancer screening; and

Whereas, Gibbs Cancer Center is a nationally recognized cancer treatment and research facility associated with the National Cancer Institute Community Cancer Center program, the Medical University of South Carolina, and the M.D. Anderson Cancer Network; and

Whereas, with sites in Spartanburg, Gaffney, and Greer, Gibbs is a proven leader in providing effective cancer treatment through advanced technology, professional expertise, and an exceptional level of personalized care. The Gibbs oncology program, which also includes the Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health, has been recognized by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons as offering high-quality cancer care. In 2012, Gibbs joined forces with Bon Secours St. Francis Health System to expand world-class oncology services and clinical research in the Upstate; and

Whereas, grateful for Gibbs Cancer Center's dedication to exceptional patient care, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in honoring the center on its latest accomplishment, accreditation for the Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, salute Gibbs Cancer Center in Spartanburg on being awarded a three-year term of accreditation for the Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Gibbs Cancer Center.
