A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR RHETT FRAMPTON OF SUMMERVILLE, SCIENCE AND MATH TEACHER AT PINEWOOD PREPARATORY SCHOOL, ON BEING NAMED 2013 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION (SCISA) LOWER SCHOOL TEACHER OF THE YEAR AND TO EXTEND SINCERE APPRECIATION FOR HER OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO EDUCATION IN SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, the House of Representatives is pleased to learn that Rhett Frampton, science and math teacher at Pinewood Preparatory School, has been named 2013 South Carolina Independent School Association Lower School Teacher of the Year; and

Whereas, in preparation for her long and fruitful career, Rhett Frampton attended Agnes Scott College in Georgia and graduated with a bachelor's degree summa cum laude from the College of Charleston, followed by further work at the University of South Carolina and the earning of a master's degree in education, also summa cum laude, from The Citadel; and

Whereas, Mrs. Frampton has over thirty years' experience in education, twenty of those years at Pinewood. While taking time off to raise her children, she served on the Pinewood Board of Trustees, chairing its education committee and working on the accreditation steering committee. She joined the Pinewood faculty in 1993; and

Whereas, selected for the SCISA Lower School Teacher of the Year award from more than three thousand teachers statewide, Rhett Frampton is a compassionate, calm, and committed professional. In teaching science and math to Pinewood's fourth graders, she has inspired in many a love for these subjects; and

Whereas, in addition, her passion for teaching, combined with a unique style that utilizes current as well as tried-and-true methods of instruction, creates a stimulating environment for her students to grasp vital concepts necessary for growing youthful minds; and

Whereas, she is always focused on the magic that happens when rich material and inquisitive minds meet, says Pinewood Head of School Steve Mandell, and is well known for creating this magic through her annual quail project. She and her students incubate, hatch, and care for, one hundred quail, a platform Mrs. Frampton finds ideal for teaching preparation, organization, collaboration, kindness, and a plethora of other life lessons; and

Whereas, numerous honors have come to Mrs. Frampton for her exemplary teaching, among them designation as Pinewood Preparatory School Teacher of the Year, Berkeley County School District Teacher of the Year, and SCISA Master Teacher; and

Whereas, Rhett Frampton believes in active participation in the community, and she demonstrates that conviction through her work with various organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity, Chase After the Cure, Foster Children Association, and Katie's Krops. A woman of faith, she is an active member of St. Paul's Summerville, where she serves on the Prayer Wheel. She gives the Lord full credit for what she has been able to accomplish; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is proud to honor Rhett Frampton for demonstrating the personal and teaching qualities that help mold South Carolina's youth into successful future leaders in their communities. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor Rhett Frampton of Summerville, science and math teacher at Pinewood Preparatory School, on being named 2013 South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) Lower School Teacher of the Year and extend sincere appreciation for her outstanding contributions to education in South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Rhett Frampton.
