TO RECOGNIZE AND EXPRESS APPRECIATION TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA INSTITUTE OF ARCHAEOLOGY AND ANTHROPOLOGY FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PRESERVATION OF THE STATE'S HISTORIC AND PREHISTORIC PAST ON THE OCCASION OF ITS FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to learn that the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology is celebrating its fiftieth year; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology has an unparalleled record of excellence in conducting archaeological research on behalf of the State; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology provides consultation and assistance to other state agencies; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology provides assistance to law enforcement through forensic archaeological recovery; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology provides consultation and assistance to the public; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology provides consultation and assistance to the Native American community and the Commission for Minority Affairs; and
Whereas, the staff of the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology is committed to the teaching and nurturing of students by collaborating with primary schools, secondary schools, and universities providing a full range of lectures, workshops, internships, and other educational experiences. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution recognize and congratulate the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology for outstanding contributions to the preservation of the state's historic and prehistoric past on the occasion of its fiftieth anniversary.
