A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE KIMBERLY MYERS, AYNOR HIGH SCHOOL CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION DEPARTMENT CHAIR, ON BEING NAMED 2013 TEACHER OF THE YEAR BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF TEACHERS OF FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES.

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly is pleased to learn that Kimberly Myers, Aynor High School Career and Technology Education department chair, has been named 2013 Teacher of the Year by the South Carolina Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences; and

Whereas, in addition to her duties as department chair and teacher, Ms. Myers is adviser to her school's Family, Career and Community Leaders of America chapter; and

Whereas, this Horry County resident has held several elected positions in the South Carolina Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences and participates in the development and revision of state-level curriculum; and

Whereas, she is also a teacher reviewer for family and consumer-sciences textbooks published by Glencoe-McGraw Hill; and

Whereas, Ms. Myers is now a candidate for the title of Teacher of the Year for the South Carolina Association of Career and Technical Education. If selected, she will represent her state in competing for the Association of Career and Technology Education Teacher of the Year award at the national level; and

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly is grateful for the standard of excellence Kimberly Myers has set for her students and for the pride and recognition she has brought to Aynor High School, her community, and the Palmetto State; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly salute her on winning this latest recognition, the title of South Carolina Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences 2013 Teacher of the Year, and wish her much success as she continues to compete for the national award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Kimberly Myers, Aynor High School Career and Technology Education department chair, on being named 2013 Teacher of the Year by the South Carolina Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Kimberly Myers.
