VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES PROVIDERS IN THIS STATE AND TO COMMEND THEM FOR THE VALUABLE ASSISTANCE THEY RENDER TO OUR CITIZENS.
Whereas, with deep appreciation, the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina commends all those involved in emergency medical services for the benefit of the citizens of our great State; and
Whereas, members of emergency medical services provide a vital public service and are ready to offer lifesaving care to those in need, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week; and
Whereas, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and
Whereas, providers of emergency medical services traditionally serve a critical role as first responders in rendering urgent medical care across this State and the Nation; and
Whereas, injury prevention and the appropriate use of emergency medical services can dramatically reduce health care costs; and
Whereas, emergency medical services teams may consist of emergency physicians, emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics, firefighters, educators, and administrators, approximately two-thirds of whom are volunteers; and
Whereas, whether career or volunteer, the members of emergency medical services teams engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills; and
Whereas, Americans benefit daily from the knowledge and skills of these highly trained emergency medical services providers; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are profoundly grateful for the dedicated service and sacrifice of emergency medical services providers, who save countless lives and help educate the citizens of South Carolina about injury prevention and responding to emergency medical situations. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor emergency medical services providers in this State and commend them for the valuable assistance they render to our citizens.
