AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 48-23-300 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A MAJOR FACILITY PROJECT REQUESTING THIRD-PARTY CERTIFICATION SHALL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SEEK A RATING POINT THAT WOULD DISCRIMINATE AGAINST WOOD PRODUCTS OF THIS STATE DERIVED FROM FOREST LANDS CERTIFIED BY THE SUSTAINABLE FORESTRY INITIATIVE OR THE AMERICAN TREE FARM SYSTEM.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Disallowance of certain rating points
SECTION 1. Chapter 23, Title 48 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 48-23-300. A major facility project as defined in Section 48-52-810(10) requesting third-party certification shall not be allowed to seek a rating point that would discriminate against wood products of this State derived from forest lands certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative or the American Tree Farm System."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
Ratified the 4th day of June, 2013.
