TO HONOR SUFFIE L. JENNINGS OF MCCORMICK COUNTY FOR HER SIXTEEN YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, TO CONGRATULATE HER ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AS DIRECTOR OF ELECTIONS AND REGISTRATION FOR MCCORMICK COUNTY, AND TO WISH HER MUCH SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the House of Representatives has learned that Suffie L. Jennings soon will step down from her position as McCormick County director of elections and registration, in which post she has served with such distinction, to embrace the pleasures of retirement; and
Whereas, employed with Milliken for seventeen years prior to taking up her duties with McCormick County, she also has served as a licensed apprentice with Walker Funeral Home for the past twenty years; and
Whereas, Suffie L. Jennings strongly believes in active participation in her community and demonstrates that commitment through volunteering with various organizations. A faithful member of Parksville's Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, she has held positions such as lead usher, president of the missionary ministry, member of the multimedia ministry, and director of Vacation Bible School. In addition, she is a former vice president of the Union #3 Women's Missionary Auxiliary, which consists of thirteen churches; and
Whereas, to increase her knowledge of voter registration and election policies, she has attended many conferences that have enabled her to return to McCormick County and facilitate workshops that have better prepared county residents to participate in the election process; and
Whereas, the daughter of James and Beatrice Jennings, Ms. Jennings is a lifelong resident of McCormick County; and
Whereas, grateful for the legacy of consistent commitment and excellence Suffie L. Jennings has bestowed on this great State, the House of Representatives takes much pleasure in wishing her well in her retirement and trusts she will find much enjoyment in the more leisurely pace of the days ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor Suffie L. Jennings of McCormick County for her sixteen years of dedicated service to the people of South Carolina, congratulate her on the occasion of her retirement as director of elections and registration for McCormick County, and wish her much success and fulfillment in all her future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Suffie L. Jennings.
