VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-150-395 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR PUBLIC KINDERGARTEN THROUGH GRADE TWELVE SCHOOLS FROM PROCEEDS OF A DESIGNATED LOTTERY GAME AND TO NAME THE GAME "THE K-12 GAME".
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 150, Title 59 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-150-395. (A) In addition to the disbursement of revenue and earnings from the Education Lottery Account as required by Section 59-150-350 and as appropriated by the General Assembly in its annual general appropriations bill or any bill appropriating monies for previous or current fiscal years and the carry forward of unexpended funds, an amount of funds must be identified as the net proceeds of a specified lottery game and allocated to the Department of Education only for educational purposes and educational programs in public kindergarten through grade twelve schools.
(B) In achieving this additional funding for kindergarten through grade twelve educational purposes and programs, the commission may designate an existing lottery game or initiate a new lottery game, as defined in Section 59-150-20(7), as the game providing additional revenue pursuant to this section. The designated game must be named 'The K-12 Game'."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
