VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE MOZELLE BARNETTE OF YORK COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MUCH HAPPINESS IN THE DAYS AHEAD.
Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is pleased to learn that on September 1, 2016, Mozelle Barnette of York County celebrated her one hundredth birthday; and
Whereas, born in York County, the young Mozelle came into this world on September 1, 1916, when the twentieth century was still in its youth, and she has been witness to nearly all the incredible changes and developments that have come to this nation from that time into the second decade of the twenty-first century; and
Whereas, this scholarly young lady so distinguished herself in the York County school system that she was honored as salutatorian at her graduation in the York High School Class of 1934; and
Whereas, on November 25, 1937, Mozelle wed James W. Barnette, Sr. In the fullness of time, the happy couple became the proud parents of a son, James W. Barnette, Jr.; and
Whereas, Mozelle, a lifelong resident of the Delphos community except for three years during WWII, worked after graduation as a teller at the Bank of York. She also served in the office of the York County clerk of court and retired in 1982 as York County register of deeds; and
Whereas, this woman of faith found her spiritual home at Philadelphia United Methodist Church, where she has worshipped as a lifelong member and served as longtime treasurer; and
Whereas, the Senate takes great pleasure in honoring this daughter of South Carolina, a devoted wife, mother, Christian, employee, and community advocate, at the celebration of her one hundredth birthday and joins with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this important life milestone. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Mozelle Barnette of York County on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and much happiness in the days ahead.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mozelle Barnette.
