A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR ALLY MCCASLIN, MISS SOUTH CAROLINA TEEN 2017, AND TO COMMEND HER FOR THE DISCIPLINE, ASPIRATIONS, AND TALENT THAT HAVE ENABLED HER TO REPRESENT THE PALMETTO STATE WITH DIGNITY AND POISE.

Whereas, on Friday, June 23, 2017, Ally McCaslin of Simpsonville was crowned Miss South Carolina Teen 2017 at Township Auditorium in Columbia; and

Whereas, this historic crowning moment marked Ally's first step on a journey that took her to Orlando in July 2017 to compete for the title of America's Outstanding Teen, where she represented the Palmetto State with elegance and style; and

Whereas, in the Miss South Carolina Teen Pageant, Ally competed as Miss Woodmont High School Teen and performed a vocal to "Journey to the Past" for the talent competition. She was also the overall teen evening gown winner; and

Whereas, currently, Ally is a junior at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities, where she participates in the Beta Club, International Thespian Society, Feminist Club, Multicultural Club, International Relations Club, and Musical Theatre Club. She also volunteers for Battle Buddies and Honoring Their Service, both of which are wounded-veteran support organizations; and

Whereas, the daughter of Kent and Carrie McCaslin and younger sister of Josh, this seventeen-year-old plans to pursue a musical theatre degree and ultimately perform on Broadway; and

Whereas, during her reign as Miss South Carolina Teen 2017, Ally McCaslin has provided a gracious and graceful role model that represents the combined qualities of intellect, talent, loveliness, and charm admired by all who know her. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor Ally McCaslin, Miss South Carolina Teen 2017, and commend her for the discipline, aspirations, and talent that have enabled her to represent the Palmetto State with dignity and poise.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Ally McCaslin.
